Watch the movie, “Good Night, and Good Luck” (2005), about Edward R. Murrow, the namesake of the Murrow College of Communication. You can stream it from a number of places online for $2.99.

Pay attention not only to the main storyline, but to the values that drove Murrow’s choices and the way he went about his business. Of course this is one movie portraying Murrow and Fred Friendly from a particular perspective, and you should keep that in mind as well. Consider doing some additional research on Murrow to understand his career and legacy a little more fully.

  • Write a brief one-page paper describing at least one aspect of the Murrow way that you think is important for present-day communicators to carry into their work. Provide specific examples, both of how you saw Murrow embody what you are describing and how you envision it being lived out today.
  • All papers for this class should be written single-spaced, in Calibri size 12 font (use Verdana or Arial if you do not have Calibri on your computer), with one-inch margins on all sides. Please submit a Word or PDF document (not Pages) so that we can review it in Blackboard.
